ARTA Grants Program

ARTA currently awards $2,000 grants to Arkansas public-school employees in the following categories:
 

Parsons-Burnett Grant for Certified Employees

​

Eligibility

  1. Applicant must be a licensed educator currently employed in a certified position in an Arkansas public school.

  2. Applicant must be working toward a specific graduate degree, endorsement or certification (excluding National Board Certification). Requests for funds to pay off student loans are not eligible.

  3. Previous applicants may reapply.

 

Evaluation Criteria

  1. Academic record

  2. Teaching performance

  3. Innovation/Technique

  4. Community service/Extracurricular activity

  5. Financial need

  6. Reference

Mitchell-Fair Grant for Classified Employees

Eligibility

  1. Applicant must be currently employed in a classified position in an Arkansas public school AND have at least three (3) years of service credit in the Arkansas Teacher Retirement System.

  2. Applicant must have at least 60 credit hours from an accredited college.

  3. Applicant must be working toward an Arkansas teaching license. Requests for funds to pay off student loans are not eligible.

General Guidelines

Application Process

  1. Applications must be completed online between January 15 and March 31. Please make sure you are applying in the correct category before you begin.

  2. Use the Preview buttons to see what materials you will need before you begin your application.

  3. Supporting documents should be uploaded within the application.

  4. You may request that electronic transcripts be sent directly to ARTA. Call 501-375-2958 for instructions.

  5. You will be able to save your application and return to it later.

Award Process

  1. Applications are reviewed by a committee of ARTA members using an established rubric.

  2. The number of grants will be determined by ARTA and awarded to the highest-scoring applicants.

  3. All applicants who complete an application will receive a letter regarding the status of their application.

  4. Award checks will be presented to each recipient at a meeting within the recipient's school district.

Applications accepted January 15 - March 31

To date, more than $260,000 in grants have been awarded to active personnel in Arkansas's public schools.
These grants are primarily funded by donations and other contributions from ARTA members and their families.
