ARTA was established in 1939-40 to advocate for a stable, secure retirement system for Arkansas' retired public school personnel. Today, ARTA serves more than 12,500 members with:
representation at ATRS Board of Trustees meetings, relevant legislative committee meetings, and other meetings that determine current and future retiree benefits;
information and education on topics and issues of interest;
leadership, service, social and recreational opportunities;
recognition and support of membership at the community level.
